Replacement Remote Key Fobs for Discontinued Toyota Transmitters with FCC ID BAB237131-022

Toyota used two different remotes with FCC ID BAB237131-022 with port-installed or dealer-installed systems in the late 1990s and early in this millennium. These remotes looked similar. One had a black case and the other a dark grey case. The easiest way to tell which of these you have is to compare the color of the buttons with the color of the case. Both remotes have black buttons. So, for the remote with the black case, the buttons and case are the same color. For the remote with the dark grey case, the case is just slightly lighter than the buttons.

Toyota makes replacement remotes for both of these transmitters. They look different from the original remotes, but once again, look very similar to each other. The original remotes and replacement keyfob for each are shown below.

Both remotes are user programmable and come with instructions and free phone tech support.

CompuStar 1-button remote start transmitters with FCC ID VA5JR760AM433

CompuStar has marketed many add-on remote start systems that use a 1-button remote transmitter with FCC ID VA5JR760AM433. There are many styles and part numbers associated with these key fobs. They were used on systems marketed under the CompuStar, Arctic Start, FTX and NuStart brands.

The best way to make sure you buy the correct replacement remote for your system is to match the part number from the sticker on the back of your old remote. These part numbers include 1BR-AM, 1BAMR, 1BR-SH, 1WR1R-AM, and variants of these that put an abbreviation of the system brand in front of these basic identifiers – such as AR1WR1R-AM for the Arctic Start branded version of the 1WR1R-AM remote.

You can see most of these parts by searching the Remotes Unlimited website using the FCC ID number. Or simply go to the following link:
CompuStar remotes with FCC ID VA5JR760AM433

The systems that use these remotes are easily programmed to accept an additional remote. When you buy a remote from Remotes Unlimited, programming instructions and free phone tech support are included.

1997-2000 Chevy Corvette Replacement Remote Control

The original factory keyless entry remote used on 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2000 model-year Corvettes is a 4-button remote with FCC ID ABO0216T. However, this part was discontinued by GM years ago. It is Remotes Unlimited part number 129-1129. We sell a newer replacement transmitter from GM for $119.00 that has a different FCC ID but will work for the original key fob. That is our part number 088-6240. The only functional difference is that the newer remote does not have a “PASSIVE” switch on the back.

You can see both parts at the following link:

The factory keyless entry system in 1997-2000 Corvettes is user programmable for adding a new remote. Programming instructions and free phone tech support are provided with purchase.

Replacement Remote Key Fob for 1999 Nissan Pathfinder

We recently were asked about a replacement remote for a 1999 Nissan Pathfinder. This vehicle used two different factory keyless entry systems. The remotes for these systems are not interchangeable. Some Pathfinders used our remote 861-1861 with FCC ID KBRASTU09. The other used our transmitter 525-1525 with FCC ID KOBUTA3T.

If you have an original remote that worked with the vehicle, you can choose the part that matches the FCC ID on your original remote. If not, I suggest you call us and provide your VIN so we can determine which transmitter you need. You can reach tech support by contacting 281-820-0300 and choosing option 3.

Both of these factory keyless entry systems can be programmed by a user to accept a new keyfob. Programming instructions and free phone tech support are included with purchase.

Please note that we have B-grade remotes (previously owned) transmitters available for both of these key fobs at much lower prices than the new parts. They do not show on our website, so you will need to call us if you want to buy a B-grade remote.

Remotes Unlimited receives many calls these days requesting Autopage remotes. As many of you may know, Autopage went out of business a while back and now it is very difficult to find replacement transmitters for many of their most popular car alarm and remote start systems. Whenever we find new or used Autopage remotes for sale, we buy them. Still, it is a challenge to meet the needs of the marketplace.

Fortunately, Megatronix is marketing replacement remotes for some Autopage systems.

Autopage 2-way LCD transmitters with FCC ID H5OTR07AM – including Autopage remotes XT72LCD and XT-73LCD – can be replaced by RUI part number 079-7322. You can see and purchase it at the following link:

The very popular Autopage 1-way key fobs with FCC ID H50T21 – Autopage remotes XT-33 and XT-72s – are replaced by the Alert-branded remote 079-7291, which can be found at the following link: Replacement for Autopage remotes with FCC ID H5OT21

Free programming instructions and phone technical support are included with purchase of any of these remotes.

Mercury-Nissan-Infiniti Remote Key Fob with FCC ID KOBUTA2T or KOBUTA3T

Between 1996 and 2003 a variety of vehicles sold by Mercury, Nissan and Infiniti use a Lear-made factory keyless entry system. The original 3-button remotes had lock, unlock and panic buttons and either FCC ID KOBUTA2T or KOBUTA3T on the back. These key fobs are no longer made or sold by the original vehicle manufacturers. However, Remotes Unlimited does offer a replacement remote transmitter that will work in place of the original fobs. It is our 4-button ReMoto key fob part number 098-7960. We also currently have a few remaining pre-owned OE transmitters in stock. You can see the original transmitter and buy either a pre-owned OE remote or a new ReMoto keyfob at the following link:
Remote with FCC ID KOBUTA2T or KBOUTA3T

The systems that use this remote have “on-board” programming, so a consumer can program the vehicle to accept the remote without requiring any special tools. Remotes Unlimited includes programming instructions and free phone tech support with purchased parts.

Recently a customer asked us which vehicles had this system installed. The following Mercury, Nissan and Infiniti vehicles could have a keyless entry system that used this remote, but keep in mind that it was not standard equipment on all vehicles:
1999-2002 Mercury Villager
1996-2000 Nissan Altima
1998-2000 Nissan Frontier
1996-1999 Nissan Pathfinder
1999-2003 Nissan Quest
1995-1999 Nissan Sentra
1996-1997 Nissan Stanza
2000 Nissan Xterra

Replacement (Audiovoxx) Prestige Remote Transmitter with FCC ID H5OT35

A visitor to our website recently asked about a replacement one-way remote transmitter for his Audiovox Prestige XRO9100 car alarm system. The correct part is Audiovox part XRO-91P with FCC ID H5OT35, Remotes Unlimited part 077-6496, which can be seen and purchased at the following link: RUI Part 077-6496

Two-way systems that use part XRO-91P, may also use two-way remote transceiver XRO-92P (RUI part 099-2630). This part has not been available from Voxx (Audiovox) for some time. As of the writing of this entry, Remotes Unlimited does have 1 pre-owned XRO-92P part in stock, which can be seen at the following link: RUI part 099-2630

Systems using either of these key fobs can be programmed by a consumer to add the new transmitter/transceiver. In doing so, it is important to have a working valet (cut-off) switch, and also helpful to have a working siren to be able to hear the feedback signals (chirps) emitted by the control module during programming.

A blog reader wrote us to ask if Remotes Unlimited offers a replacement for the discontinued Nissan 3-button remote key fob with FCC ID KBRASTU10 and Model /01A. The answer is that we offer two replacement options that will work for the original transmitter. They look different than the KBRASTU10 remote but transmit the same signal. Remotes Unlimited part 739-1739 is an original Nissan part. Part 098-7413 is Remotes Unlimited’s aftermarket version of the Nissan part. You can see and purchase either part at the following link:
Replacements for Nissan 3-button remote with FCC ID KBRASTU10 and Model /01A.

Factory keyless entry systems that use this transmitter are programmable by the user. Instructions and free phone technical support are provided with the part.

CAUTION: You should be aware of this “Watch Out”. Nissan also made identical KBRASTU10 remotes with other model numbers. The options shown at the link above will only work as a replacement for original remotes with “Model/01A” shown on the back of the remote case.

Labor Day Sale on Replacement Remote Key Fob for 2007-10 Hyundai Elantra and 2006-13 Hyundai Sonata

Remotes Unlimited is having a Labor Day sale on our part 706-1706. For a limited time, this OEM Hyundai remote transmitter (part number 95430-3K200, 95430-3K201 or 95430-3K202) is priced at only $59.00, a substantial savings from the dealer list price of $173.26. You can see and purchase this part on our website at the following link: Hyundai Key Fob 95430-3K20x

This remote key fob, with FCC ID OSLOKA-310T, was used on the following models:
2007 2008 2009 2010 Hyundai Elantra
2006 2007 2008 2009 (old body style) Hyundai Sonata

Hyundai introduced a new body style for the Sonata during the 2009 model year. If equipped with a key ignition, those vehicles used a transmitter with FCC ID OSLOKA-950T and OE part number 95430-3Q000/3Q001 from 2009 through 2013. That remote is functionally equivalent to our part 706-1706.

Please note that vehicles using these key fobs require a computer scan tool for programming the vehicle to accept the new transmitter. That means you will have to take the car and all remotes used with it to a dealership or well-equipped mechanic or locksmith for programming.

Order soon because quantities may be limited and the sale will end after Labor Day.

Hyundai Veloster Flip-Key Remote Transmitter 95430-2V010 / 95430-2V011

Remotes Unlimited has part 95430-2V010 in stock and for sale at nearly $100 less than the Hyundai list price. This keyless remote transmitter was used on 2012-14 Hyundai Veloster vehicles sold in various places around the globe. To be sure this is the correct part for your vehicle, ask a Hyundai dealer to tell you the part number of the remote transmitter you need, or send the VIN with your order. You can purchase Hyundai part 95430-2V010 at the following link: Hyundai Veloster transmitter 95430-2V010

This transmitter does not come with a key blade. If you have a cut flip-key blade for your vehicle, it can be moved to the new part. A computer scan tool is required to program your vehicle to accept the new remote transmitter.

Jeep Remote-Head Key Programming

$

We received a comment from a customer who was confused about programming a new remote-head key for his Jeep. He had seen some sources that said one working key are required and others that said two working keys are needed. Here is our response:

The confusion stems from the fact that there are two components of your remote-head key that require programming. One is remote functions. The other is the anti-theft transponder. You can program the remote functions of a new remote-head key if you have one working key already. But programming the anti-theft transponder requires two working keys. That is for security reasons.

Of course, the key blade will also need to be cut. If you do not have the required number of working keys for programming a new one yourself, then the new part will need to be programmed using a computer “scan tool” device. Dealerships and most well-equipped automotive locksmiths have this device and can perform key programming and key cutting.

Replacing GM Remote Key Fob Transmitters with FCC ID KOBUT1BT

GM used a family of 3-button and 4-button keyless entry remote transmitters with FCC ID KOBUT1BT on many vehicles at the end of the 1990s and into the early 2000s. These key fobs have been discontinued by GM. However, Remotes Unlimited does have replacement options for these parts.

The most common of the parts was the 3-button remote used on Chevrolet and GMC trucks and SUVs. You can see and buy this part (098-7401) at the following link: 3-button replacement key fob for original FCC ID KOBUT1BT remotes

Some SUVs used a 4-button key fob with a rear window button. That part is 098-7400: 4-button replacement key fob for SUVs with original FCC ID KOBUT1BT remotes

Most sedans that used a KOBUT1BT part used a 4-button transmitter with a trunk button. Many of these vehicles had seat memory, so some of the original remotes had a seat memory fob number on the back. Seat-memory and non-seat-memory remotes are identical except for the number on the case. So, our part 098-7435 works for all of the sedans that originally had Lock, Unlock, Panic and Trunk buttons. You can see and buy this part at the following link: 4-button replacement key fob for original sedan remote with FCC ID KOBUT1BT

Please note that trucks and SUVs using these remotes can be self-programmed (by you) to accept a new remote. This is not true for all sedans though. Some are self-programmable and others require a scan tool for programming. If you have any questions about this, read the programming note on our website carefully or feel free to call us during normal business hours.

A customer was having trouble finding a replacement remote for her 2004 Acura TSX. Here is our response:

We have replacement transmitters in three different condition grades, priced accordingly. You can see all three choices at the following link: 2004 Acura TSX keyfob

Part 648-1648 that appears at the top of this linked page for $69.00 plus shipping is a “Re-Newed” part. That means it is a pre-owned original equipment circuit board that has been placed in a new replacement case. At the bottom of the page are options for an entirely new Acura part (647-1647) and for a pre-owned remote (668-1668). You can order online by clicking on the “Add to Cart” button for 648-1648, or for 647-1647 or 668-1668, by clicking on “Buy This Instead” and then on the “Add to Cart” button on the succeeding page. You can also call us during normal business hours on Monday if you would like to place an order by phone.

Any of these parts should work for your 2004 TSX factory keyless entry system. You will be able to program the system in your vehicle to add the new remote. Instructions for doing so are included with the part and we offer free phone technical support with purchase if you need any assistance.

Kia part 95430-3E420 with FCC ID PLNBONTEC-T016

Kia recently announced the discontinuation of another remote transmitter. Kia part 95430-3E420 with FCC ID PLNBONTEC-T016 was used on 2004, 2005 and 2006 Kia Sorrento vehicles. (In 2006, this key fob was only used on vehicles with the old body style.) It is one of few Kia factory keyless entry remote transmitters that can be programmed by a consumer. See this remote at the following link: Kia part 95430-3E420 with FCC ID PLNBONTEC-T016

Chevy GMC and Oldsmobile Keyless Entry Remote Key Fobs with FCC ID KOBUT1BT

GM used remote transmitters with FCC ID KOBUT1BT on trucks and SUVs for the years 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001 on a variety of vehicles — including full-size, S10 and Sonoma pick-up trucks and Blazer, Jimmy and Bravada SUVs. The systems in all of these vehicles have on-board programming, meaning a consumer can program the system to accept a new transmitter without special tools.

Unfortunately, GM has discontinued distribution of these remotes, so they may be hard to find. Remotes Unlimited has a limited supply of new and refurbished OE transmitters in stock. However, we also offer an aftermarket replacement key fob that works for vehicles that originally used an OE transmitter with FCC ID KOBUT1BT. Links for these remotes are provided below:

For Chevy and GMC trucks that originally used a 3-button key fob, see RUI part 517-1517 at 3-button remote replacement for GM key fob with FCC ID KOBUT1BT
For Chevy, GMC and Olds SUVs that originally used a 4-button remote, see RUI part 516-1516 at 4-button remote replacement for GM SUV key fob with FCC ID KOBUT1BT

IMPORTANT NOTE: For the 2001 model year, GM trucks and SUVs changed keyless entry systems half-way through the year. If your vehicle was built after February 2001, you probably have a system that used a remote with FCC ID KOBLEAR1XT. Those remotes look like but are not interchangeable with KOBUT1BT transmitters. Call Remotes Unlimited toll-free at 877-719-1900 and choose option 2 to speak with a sales associate if you have any question about which remote you need.

Difference between OE and Aftermarket Remote Key Fobs

$

0

A website visitor contacted to ask what is the difference between our remote transmitters 512-1512 and 098-7397, and whether both would work for his 2004 Chevrolet Impala. This is a very good question. Often, there is more than one remote key fob that will work for a vehicle. In many cases, including this one, the difference is between the manufacturer of the remote. Here is our response to that customer:

Part 512-1512 (4-button GM fob with FCC ID KOBLEAR1XT for 2001-2005 sedans) has an OE (original equipment) circuit board. That means it is the same as the transmitter you would buy from a GM dealership.

Part 098-7397 (Remotes Unlimited fob with FCC ID 2AHZT-GCRK12 – replaces GM remote with FCC ID KOBLEAR1XT) is a transmitter that performs the same functions, but is made by an automotive aftermarket supplier.

There is no difference in the programming requirements or functionality of the parts.

Many people believe that an OE part is engineered to more demanding specifications and therefore will last longer than an aftermarket remote. I think that is generally true. But either of these parts should last many years under normal use. The systems that use this remote were only installed on GM sedans during the 2001-05 model years, so the components in the 16-20-year-old vehicle (and the vehicle itself) are much more likely to fail before a new replacement remote. You should buy whichever one seems like the best choice to you.

Replacement Remote Key Fobs with FCC ID H5OT21 — Autopage Alert Guardian Marksman Silencer

$

0

Several marketers of add-on alarm and remote start systems sold products that used a remote transmitter with FCC ID H5OT21. These include Autopage, Code Alarm (Guardian) and Magnadyne (Alert, Marksman and Silencer). Many of these brands have gone out of existence, so it can be difficult to find a replacement remote key fob for these systems.

Remotes Unlimited stocks two 5-button remotes with FCC ID H5OT21. These key fobs will work as a replacement for H5OT21 transmitters originally sold with other brands, including Autopage’s transmitter parts XT-33 and XT-72s. If your system originally used a 2-button, 3-button or 4-button remote, the extra buttons on the replacement part will serve no function. If you are wondering what the center button (with “II” or a car image on it) does, it is a vehicle “shift” button. Some systems were made so that if you installed the same system on two vehicles, a single remote would operate both of them and the user pushed this shift button to switch operation from one vehicle to another.

One available replacement remote is Marksman part M5ARF or X7RF. It can be seen and purchased at the following link: Remotes Unlimited part 672-1672 (Marksman).

The other available transmitter is Alert part MT-75S. It can be seen and purchased at the following link: Remotes Unlimited part 079-7291 (Alert).

Remotes Unlimited also has a limited supply of pre-owned H5OT21 remote key fobs. These parts show signs of prior use, but cost much less than a new transmitter. We clean and test the parts and, if needed, install a new battery in these pre-owned parts. To inquire about a pre-owned remote, call our customer service staff at 877-719-1900 (toll-free) and then press “2” for sales. All add-on system remotes come with programming instructions and free phone technical support.

Loss of Car Alarm System Programming When Car Battery Goes Dead

$

We recently received an inquiry from a customer whose ProStart car alarm remote transmitter no longer worked after jumping a dead car battery. Even more annoying, the car alarm sounded and would not turn off. This is a common issue with both car alarm and factory keyless entry systems. The control unit in the vehicle can lose memory of the key fobs synched with the system when there is no charge coming from the car battery. Remotes Unlimited can assist with this by helping to reprogram the car alarm system. To get this help, contact Remotes Unlimited during normal business hours and choose option 3 for technical support.

Audiovox System Receiver with FCC ID ELVAR5C

We recently received an inquiry from a site visitor looking for the correct remote key fob for an Audiovox aftermarket alarm system that uses a receiver with FCC ID ELVAR5C. The original replacement key fob for that receiver is Remotes Unlimited transmitter 267-1267, which can be viewed and purchased at the following link: Prestige (Audiovox) fob 267-1267

This transmitter has FCC ID ELVAT5C. Note that the FCC ID of the receiver and the transmitter are the same except for the characters “R” and “T” in the middle. This is a common FCC naming approach for aftermarket systems, though there also are numerous exceptions.

Aftermarket alarm systems are user programmable. Generally, the programming procedure uses the valet (or “shut-off”) switch to place the system in programming mode. So, you need a working valet switch to program this Audiovox system. While not essential, it is also helpful to have a working siren so you can hear the audible chirps during the programming process.
