Toyota Port-Installed and Dealer-Installed Keyless Entry Remotes with FCC ID ELVATDC

$

There seems to be lots of confusion about port-installed and dealer-installed keyless entry systems used on Toyota vehicles in North America. Several different systems have been used. Among the most common are systems for which the original remote has FCC ID ELVATDC on the back.

Audiovox/Code Alarm supplied Toyota with two systems for port or dealer installation that used remotes with FCC ID ELVATDC. Keyfobs for one system have a green LED light; those for the other system have a red LED light. These two remotes are not interchangeable. Both of the original key fobs have been discontinued, but Remotes Unlimited sells replacement transmitters for both of them.

If your remote has a red LED, the correct replacement remote is our part 495-1495. You can see the original part and the replacement at this link:
Remote 495-1495

If your remote has a green LED, the correct replacement remote is our part 092-6435. You can see the original part and the replacement at this link:
Remote 092-6435

Both of these keyfobs have different FCC IDs than your original remote, but they should work for your system if you select based on the color of the LED light on your original remote. The system in your vehicle is user-programmable. Programming instructions and free phone tech support are included with purchase.

Remotes Unlimited recently received and inquiry about Audiovox remote transmitter XRO-91P. This 4-button key fob has FCC ID H5OT35. It was used on a two-way ultra high-frequency Prestige aftermarket alarm system – model XRO-9100. You can see and purchase this remote, RUI part number 077-6496, at the following link:
Audiovox Remote with FCC ID H5OT35

This Audiovox keyfob is the 1-way companion remote. The 2-way OLED transceiver used with the XRO-9100 system has been discontinued by Audiovox and is not available. As with nearly all aftermarket alarm system remotes, this key fob is user programmable if a valet switch has been correctly installed on the vehicle.

Programming Ford Remotes with FCC ID GQ43VT11T or CWTWB1Uxxx with a Non-Original Key

A website visitor contacted Remotes Unlimited recently to ask if he could program a Ford vehicle himself to accept our remote key fob 344-1344, which is a 4-button transmitter with FCC ID GQ43VT11T or CWTWB1Uxxx. Here is our response to that customer:

Assuming you have selected the correct remote for your vehicle – part 344-1344 – then you should be able to program your vehicle to accept the new remote. You do need a key that works with your vehicle in order to put the vehicle into programming mode. If your vehicle originally came with a transponder based anti-theft system, then any key that operates your vehicle should work for programming, even if it is a replacement key with a properly cloned transponder.

The remote in question is shown at the following link:

Replacement Remote Key Fob for 2005-2009 Hyundai Tucson with FCC ID OSLOKA-110T

Hyundai and her sister company, Kia, often have factory keyless entry transmitter part supersessions that are equivalent parts with different OE part numbers and, sometimes, different FCC IDs. This is the case for the remotes used on 2005 through 2009 Hyundai Tucson vehicles.

The original remote for 2005 Tucson vehicles sold in North America used a 3-button keyfob with FCC ID number OSLOKA-110T. Later this was replaced with a remote transmitter with FCC ID OSLOKA-320T. The two remotes are visually and functionally equivalent – that is, interchangeable. Hyundai OE part numbers associated with these parts include 95430-2E200 and 95430-2E210.

You can see and buy this remote – Remotes Unlimited part 806-1806 – at the following link:
Hyundai remote with FCC ID OSLOKA-110T or OSLOKA-320T

There are two important things to note about this part. First, Hyundai produced and sold two versions of the Tucson in the 2009 model year. They did not use the same factory keyless entry system. Part 806-1806 only works on 2009 Tucson vehicles with the old body style. Second, vehicles using this Hyundai remote transmitter require a scan tool for programming, so if you are not near our shop in Houston, you will have to take all remotes and your vehicle to a dealership or well-equipped locksmith for programming.

Replacement Keyless Entry Remote Key Fob for 2006 Nissan Armada

$

A site visitor asked us what the correct replacement remote keyfob is for her 2006 Nissan Armada. She was confused by all of the information she saw on the web about FCC IDs. This may be because many remotes have different FCC IDs but function the same. Parts that work on the Nissan Armada, for instance, could have FCC ID 2AHZT-NISRK01, CWTWB1U415, CWTWB1U733, CWTWB1U821 or KBRASTU15.

Also, her original remote had lock, unlock, lift gate and panic buttons. However, there are keyfobs available that work the same but have a trunk button icon in place of the lift gate button. These remotes often sell for a much lower price.

So, here is our response to the customer:
Your 2006 Armada originally used a 4-button remote with a lock, unlock, panic and a lift gate icon for the rear function. It is our part 751-1751, which has a dealer list price of $140.91 and which we sell for $113.00.

Functionally, this part is equivalent to another similar-looking Nissan part used on sedans that had a trunk button in place of the liftgate icon. That part is much less expensive. It is our part 504-1504, which we sell for $59.00. This part is also available in Advance Auto and Pep Boys stores with the part number CPR-8504.

The system in your Armada is user-programmable. It is a fairly simple process. We ship programming instructions with our parts and, if you need assistance with programming, you can call us for free tech support.

You can see and purchase both remotes at the following link:

Replacement Keyless Remote Key Fobs for Ford Lincoln Mercury Dealer-Installed Remote Start Systems

Ford offered a variety of branded aftermarket systems as dealer-installed add-on remote start systems for Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles. Some dealerships also sourced their own aftermarket systems for use as add-on systems. These would not have a vehicle make brand on them.

If you have a Ford dealer-installed remote start system, it is important to be sure that you buy the correct replacement keyfob for the system that is installed in your vehicle. The best way to search for the correct replacement remote is by the FCC ID on the back of your original transmitter. Links to some of the most common dealer-installed system remotes are shown below. Many of these remotes have different FCC IDs and are not interchangeable. These remotes could have come with either a Ford, Lincoln or Mercury logo, or with no logo at all. Also, cosmetic aspects of the case and the button icons can vary. The logo and button icons do not affect function; only the FCC ID and button count are critical for choosing a replacement.

Programming Lock and Unlock Buttons on DEI Alarm Systems Using Remote Key Fob with FCC ID EZSDEI476

A customer recently contacted Remotes Unlimited about programming his 4-button remote transmitter with FCC ID EZSDEI476. He was having trouble programming the remote to have the lock and unlock functions on different buttons. When he used the standard programming process, the system responded to only 1 button – alternately locking and unlocking his vehicle.

There are numerous remotes with FCC ID EZSDEI476. You can see them at the following link:
DEI Remotes with FCC ID EZSDEI476x

Our tech support personnel were able to solve the customer’s problem. The customer purchased our 4-button replacement fob 936-1936 (with DEI’s AutoMate brand) which will work for all systems that require a remote with FCC ID EZSDEI476. See the remote at the following link:
Remotes Unlimited part 936-1936 with FCC ID EZSDEI476

It turns out that some DEI systems, including the one in the customer’s vehicle, default to using one button for the lock and unlock functions. One can program these systems to separate the lock and unlock functions onto two separate buttons by using channel 7 of the system.

Alarm and Keyless Entry Systems on Recreational Vehicles (RVs)

We occasionally receive inquiries about recreational vehicle (RV) remote transmitters. Replacing a key fob for an RV can prove to be a bit of a challenge. Many of the systems are old add-on technology and they often are installed to perform custom functions. We also have found that most RV customers do not have any of the original paperwork for the systems in their vehicles.

We recently received an inquiry from a customer who was looking to replace a remote with FCC ID ELV777K. This FCC ID can appear on remotes for many systems because it dates from a time when many different technologies used similar circuit boards that all fit in the same case. So, remotes with FCC ID ELV777K could have any of at least a half dozen different circuit boards in it. Some of these are common and easy to replace and others are very rare.

The customer’s remote transmitter had a circuit board with the number MT7B on it. This is a rare board. We searched the Internet to seek information on this part and found a single stale link to this part. Here is the gist of our response to the customer:

The fact that there is only one Google hit on the PCB number you gave us is a further indication that the circuit board in you remote is very rare. That is why we feel it is possible that the RV fabricator placed a custom order with an alarm system manufacturer for the system in your vehicle. If so, it may have unique encryption and/or a distinctive programming process.

Based on the Silencer models listed in the one reference we found, our corresponding part would be 255-1255.

Because of data reliability concerns about the information we did find, we could not guarantee that part 255-1255 would work for the customer’s system. My guess is there would be a 50-50 chance that it would match his transmitter. And there was another complication. Neither the customer nor Remotes Unlimited had programming instructions for the system, which means that, even if it were a good replacement remote for his system, it might not be possible to program it to his RV.

There were two other paths that we could try. One is to find the receiver in the RV and see if it has identification numbers on it that provide more definitive reference information. For instance, if it were a specific Silencer model, we could better determine that part 255-1255 is the correct replacement part.

The second option was for the customer to send his original remote to us for cloning if it would transmit any signal at all. (Most of the boards compatible with ELV777K operate on a fixed code, meaning they transmit the same code each time you press a button.) This would allow us to copy the customer’s precise signal onto our ReMoto part 175-2663. In this situation, cloning would have a much higher probability of success than buying a remote that may or may not be the correct one for the system and that needs to be programmed. Cloned remotes do not require programming because they are a copy of the remote you are already using.

This turned out to be the best approach.

Replacement Keyless Entry Remote Transmitters for 2008 Toyota Highlander

A customer recently sent us an inquiry seeking a replacement remote key fob for his 2008 Toyota Highlander. This vehicle could have had push-button start or a keyed ignition. Also, there are multiple remote transmitter options depending on whether or not the vehicle had remote operation of the hatch glass and/or power lift gate. So, we had to ask him for more information.

All of the remotes for the 2008 Highlander are shown on our website at www.remotesunlimited.com. Use search method 1 and select “Toyota”, then “2008”, then “Highlander” and it will show all 5 key fobs. You can match the original part that came with your vehicle. If you are not sure which remote originally came with the vehicle, then you can send us the VIN and we will check it with a Toyota dealership. (Entering the VIN on our website will perform the same search as the make, model and year of the vehicle; it cannot determine which part you need.)

For the 2008 Highlander, the keyfobs used on vehicles with a keyed ignition are user programmable, but the proximity remotes for vehicles with push-button start require programming by a dealer or locksmith. For user programmable parts, we provide the programming instructions and free phone tech support.

Replacement Cool Start (CrimeStopper) Remote Key Fobs with FCC ID M65TX605

We had two blog comments this week asking about older Cool Start alarm/keyless entry/remote start systems that used remote transmitters with FCC ID M65TX605. CrimeStopper – the marketer of Cool Start systems – made two key fobs with FCC ID M65TX605. CS-TX33 is a 5-button remote with lock, unlock, remote start, shift and flashlight buttons. CS-TX34 is an identical remote transmitter except that it also has a trunk button. You can see both parts at the following link:
Cool Start (CrimeStopper) Remotes with FCC ID M65TX605

CrimeStopper ceased making these parts some time ago. Remotes Unlimited does still have a limited supply of the 6-button part – Remotes Unlimited part 772-1772 – but the new parts in inventory are not expected to last long. We also have several B-grade 772-1772 remotes in stock. B-grade remotes are gently used remotes that have been tested and given a fresh battery. (Note that Remotes Unlimited often has B-grade keyfobs in stock even when our website shows only a new part in stock or shows no part in stock.)

Do not despair if our website shows both of the M65TX605 remotes as out of stock because, in addition to B-grade 772-1772 key fobs in stock, Remotes Unlimited also has a newer CrimeStopper/Cool Start remote in stock that will work in place of the old remotes with FCC ID M65TX605. That is Remotes Unlimited part 071-6497 with FCC ID Q6WBT4123. Even though this keyfob is made by a totally different manufacturer for CrimeStopper and has a different FCC ID, it will replace the older parts CS-TX33 and CS-TX34. It will operate all functions of the old 5-button and 6-button remotes except that it does not have an LED flashlight as the parts with FCC ID M65TX605 did. You can see and purchase Remotes Unlimited remote 071-6497 at the following link:
RUI part 071-6497 with FCC ID Q6WBT4123

The Cool Start alarm and remote start systems that use any of these remote key fobs are all user programmable for adding a new remote. Remotes Unlimited includes programming instructions and free phone technical support with purchase.

Toyota Port-Installed or Dealer-Installed Keyless Entry Remote Key Fob with FCC ID ELVATDC

A site visitor recently inquired about a replacement remote for his 2003 Toyota Tundra truck. As it turns out, his vehicle did not have a factory keyless entry system; instead, it had a Toyota port-installed system that originally used a remote with FCC ID ELVATDC on the back.

Prior to the years when factory keyless entry systems became standard equipment on nearly all new vehicles, Toyota often added port-installed or dealer-installed alarm/keyless entry systems to vehicles for the benefit of North American customers who wanted the security or convenience of a system.

Through the years, these add-on systems used a number of different remote transmitters, one of which was a 3-button keyfob with a red LED light and the FCC ID ELVATDC on the back. That remote is no longer made, but Toyota does offer a newer remote that replaces it. That keyfob is Remotes Unlimited part 092-6435, which looks similar but has a green LED light and FCC ID ELVATDD.

You can see and purchase the new remote at this link:

This remote is user programmable.

Programming a Remote Key Fob with FCC ID H5OT21

A blog reader contacted us for help programming the system in his 2005 RAV4 that uses a remote keyfob with FCC ID H5OT21. This FCC ID is only associated with aftermarket alarm and remote start systems, so his Toyota dealer had installed this system on the vehicle. Consequently, remote transmitter part and programming information for the factory-installed keyless entry system used on 2005 RAV4 vehicles is irrelevant. Here is our response:

There were several different remotes with FCC ID H5OT21. You can see them at the following link:
Remotes with FCC ID H5OT21

They were used on a variety of aftermarket alarm systems marketed by AutoPage and Code Alarm under the names Alert, Guardian and Marksman in addition to AutoPage and Code Alarm. All of these systems are user programmable. Remotes Unlimited can assist with programming any of these systems. We do charge for that service if you have not purchased a remote from us. To get assistance, call us at 281-820-0300 (M-F 9am-5pm Central time) and choose option 3 for tech support.

To complete programming, we need to know the model of the system. You can determine this by finding the control module (receiver) in your vehicle. It is usually located under the dashboard on the driver side. Also, the procedure uses the valet (shut-off) switch for your system, so you may want to be sure that component is working before you call us. (We do sell valet switches if you need one.)

Programming a Honda Remote-Head Key (aka “Keyhead” Remote)

$
0
0

We have many customers who need a replacement part for their Honda remote-head key because the remote transmitter no longer works. In some cases, it is possible to replace the transmitter and program it without needing help from a dealership or automotive locksmith.

What makes this possible is that, in several of the most common Honda keyhead parts, the transponder for the anti-theft features of the vehicle is placed in a slot in the case, separate from the transmitter sub-assembly. For these parts, if one needs to replace a non-working transmitter, he or she can buy a new part and then just move the transmitter component from the new part to the old part. In that way, the original key features (blade and transponder) are preserved. The new transmitter is user programmable with the working key, so a customer would not need programming assistance from a third party.

An example of this situation is Remotes Unlimited part 637-1637, used on 2003 2004 2005 2006 and 2007 Honda Accord vehicles.

If you do this, we suggest you keep the remainder of your new keyhead part for the future. If you ever break the blade on your old key, you can move the transmitter component back into the new case and use that part.

Replacement Keyless Entry Remote Key Fobs for 2004-2006 Honda Element Vehicles

Did you know that for many years from 1995 through 2008 Honda used both factory-installed and dealer-installed keyless entry systems? In some cases, the key fobs used with each system were nearly identical. This is the case for the two 3-button keyless entry remotes used on 2004, 2005 and 2006 Honda Element vehicles.

The factory-installed system uses a Honda part 72147-S5T-A01 (RUI part 464-1464), which has FCC ID OUCG8D-344H-A. The dealer installed system uses Honda part 08E61-S5D-1M001/1M002 (RUI part 620-1620) with an FCC ID beginning with NHV). As you can see from the following links, the two parts are virtually identical from the front.

RUI part 464-1464

RUI part 620-1620

Both the factory-installed and dealer-installed systems can be programmed by a user to add a new remote.
