1994 Toyota Land Cruiser Keyless Entry Remote

A reader asked about a replacement factory remote for his 1994 Toyota Land Cruiser. In that era, Toyota did not offer factory keyless entry systems even as optional equipment on any Land Cruiser model. In fact, there was no factory keyless entry remote on a Land Cruiser until the 1998 model year when Toyota equipped Land Cruisers with a keyhead style transmitter. Prior to 1998, a Toyota-approved system was installed on many vehicles at the port of entry or by the dealership. The original remote for Toyota dealer-installed systems in 1994 had FCC ID BAB237131-022 on the back of the case. It was a 2-button black keyfob with one button controlling the lock/unlock functions and the other controlling a trunk release or auxiliary function. The original remote has since been replaced by a newer remote with FCC ID BAB237131-056 on the case.

See Toyota remote with FCC ID BAB237131-022 at this link.

All of Toyota’s dealer-installed and port-installed systems are user programmable, so customers can add a remote without having to go to the dealership for assistance.
